This track covers the latest developments in the agile community, covering a gamut of methodologies and best practices, along with courses on agile modeling, agile database design, development practices and case studies.

Successful software and software systems are directly attributable to elegant and efficient modeling and design. Models let users, architects and developers create readily understandable representations of complex object-oriented systems, before development begins. Sometimes these representations are visual (for example, class diagrams) and sometimes they are non-visual (for instance, use cases).

The Pervasive Parallelism track focuses on the problems and solutions software developers face when building multi-threaded applications running on multi-core platforms. This includes examining tools and techniques that address topics such as: mapping tasks to threads, defining and implementing synchronization, scalable architectures, high-level abstractions, software transactional memory and maintainability.

This track gives attendees an opportunity to learn by doing, highlighting a selection of hands-on, in-depth courses on the latest technologies and their impact on software architectures. Topics include: Using Aspects, Test-Driven Development, Building Your Own DSL, Strategic Design, Testing Rules Engines and Creating an Ontology.

SERVICE-ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE/WEB SERVICES [view sessions]

This track will explore concepts related to service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web services.
Topics will include classes on core standards and practical implementations of Web services with related technologies and platforms. Advanced standards related to security, reliable messaging and more will also be covered. Attendees will not only learn the basics, platforms and standards of Web services, but also learn how to apply them in an IT environment. You’ll also learn the principles of SOA, and practical approaches, technologies and platforms that support it.

SOLUTIONS/TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE [view sessions]

Software architecture captures the broad-stroke strategic design decisions of a particular system. This track focuses on how architectural design fits into the overall development process and the key issues within each of the primary architectural design topic.

TRADITIONAL DEVELOPMENT & METHODS  [view sessions ]

While agile development is the hot topic du jour in the software industry, it's only one end of the spectrum. Plan-driven methods, such as CMMI, the Team Software Process and others are in widespread use. This track highlights the latest information and best practices related to such methodologies, along with leading-edge thinking on how software should be built.
